Guided Wade Fly Fishing
First, make sure you have
your
fishing license.
Trips to the Everglades National Park on the Tamiami Trail.
Before daybreak, we'll drive to canals where
we'll sight-fish (from land) to rolling Tarpon and prowling Snook. This is
often an early morning trip.
A wade trip to Clam Pass will
begin at the Registry Resort in Naples where we can either walk to the
estuary or ride the tram over the boardwalk (less than a mile) to the
beach. Keep in mind that your non-fishing companions can enjoy the beach while you fish the Estuary.
I'll double-check the gear. When we reach the Estuary, we'll discuss fly selection and tactics. Then while we wade, you will cast to the likely spots where game fish
lie in wait while we observe the numerous Egret, Osprey, and Pelicans in
their natural environment. Be sure to be wearing your flats booties and
bathing suit and bring your camera in a plastic baggie.

Casting
You will need to be able
to cast at least 50 to 60 feet and be familiar with line-hand retrieves and
hook-setting. I'll teach the finer points to you the entire time we're
fishing. Hopefully what I suggest will give you reasons to practice and incorporate new
technique in your repertoire. Your casting accuracy and distance will certainly
heighten your fishing pleasure.
Perhaps you'd like a
casting lesson so that you may practice a day before we wade-fish. I can
teach you to learn the Double-Haul and help you improve your timing. I
can examine and evaluate your tackle and help you fine-tune your gear
from flies to lines and leaders.
