Snook not only have huge
eyes. They have A well-defined and sensitive lateral line that helps
tell them from which direction sounds are emanating. |
November 4, 2004 I've had many
opportunities to fish at Clam Pass, a nearby estuary often loaded with
baitfish, Snook and other game fish. On this day, I did
catch a Snook, but only after reading what I was dealt for a situation;
bright sun, incoming tide, murky, off-color water. A puzzle.
Snook will often be lying in
wait, then suddenly crashing on the schools of bait fish near them. A
good tactic is to wait for the Snook to feed-frenzy, then throw your fly. Murky,
coffee-colored water demands a fly that is either very dark or extremely
bright. A good choice might be a "Light Bulb" or a "Tom's
Tantrum".
