There are huge amounts of
baitfish in the creeks along U.S. 41. And chasing the bait are some
good-sized Snook.

"Dawn usually brings the most
strikes from Tarpon on the Trail. You'll have a good shot being the
first to cast, " I told Gerry Crow, a New Hampshire fishing guide, and
my guest for the cool January morning. We were on a secluded canal shore
at daybreak and on his fourth cast, Gerry hooked a Tarpon....Jump,
jump...gone. Gerry yelled, "Wow", That's a great way to begin the day!"
Our next stop brought both of us
several more Tarpon hook ups and soon it was time to hunt trail creek
Snook. Standing a few feet from speeding cars, we cast to boiling Snook
for another two hours. Both of us had action using EP Mullet flies and
Clousers. We ended up our fine day having lunch together! What'd we
have? A Florida "Grouper Sandwich" of course!!
